Blog Bait – An Insight Into Mining

3

Our class had an amazing workshop on coal mining by an ex-student of our Principal Ma’am, Mr. Anuj Jaiswal, a coal mining engineer working in Coal India Limited at Bhubaneshwar. A pass out from I.I.T Dhanbad, he has now qualified for I.I.M Lucknow for an M.B.A.

The workshop was a surprise as we were having our regular classes. All of a sudden ma’am came and introduced him. Co-incidentally his job and our current topic in Geography happen to match. He told us about different types of mining and which mining is economically beneficial for the country.

Being the son of a businessman, I really enjoyed this workshop because my father had initially been engaged in sand mining and I had never been to a mining area so I was curious to know about it. He made us aware about a lot of details and answered our queries.

I was also really surprised by the amount of hard work he did in his studies as shared by him. His favourite subject was Physics and Chemistry. In Class-12th, he used to study I.I.T level books. He spent 14 hours a day on his study because his goal was very clear and his ambition was to join I.I.T. He said it was only self-motivation that can make the impossible possible.
